Cats, DFAT and the ALP's misguided attacks on the Greens

This morning, like many mornings, I was woken up beside my lovely partner Alana, by the incessant noise of cats. Our darker tortoiseshell, Moonshe, has taken to making a noise that sounds something like 'Briiiinng!'

It's like a cat alarm clock outside our bedroom door. That's right, we have placed a restraining order on our pussies, and now keep the cats outside the bedroom at night. So from outside the door they seem to be developing meows, so powerful in pitch and tone, that they are able to pierce our sleep. So this morning sounded a little like

'Briiiinng!'
'Briiiinng!'
'Briiiinng!'
'Meow!'
'Scratch.'
'Hiss.'
'Briiiinng!'
'Briiiinng!'
'Briiiinng!'

Terrific. So seeing as our restraining order, which keeps the cats outside the bedroom at night, is failing, as they are still very loud, I thought I might contact DFAT and see if they can place a gag order on our cats, like they have done to Terry Hicks and David Hicks' sister.

Now recently a friend of mine has been banging on about an inappropriate piece of poetry created by one of the Greens, which uses the metaphor of the SS to understand how hardened the ALP scrutineers are compared to the inexperienced Greens scrutineers. I think that this poetry is not serious and an attempt at humour that has been taken out of context and taken way too seriously by the ALP. To the point where one would think that the Greens had denied the 'Final Solution' had occurred. This is clearly not the case. Mark Latham wrote about the lack of humour in the ALP in his experiences and the way things got taken out of context by people in politics. This reaction seems to confirm Latham's view that the ALP can be largely humourless. There are far more important issues that have far clearer resonance with Nazism, such as the DFAT gag on freedom of speech placed upon David Hick's family, than a silly throwaway line in a piece of poetry. Yet the ALP seems more determined to attack the Greens rather than attacking the incumbent government. Perhaps this is due to their fear that the Greens vote WILL split their primary vote and weaken their chances of getting into government? Suck it up people. All said and done, when it comes down to it I support the ALP on a two-party-preferred basis. But I do not see them as left-wing, nor having a sense of humour. They should stop attacking the Greens and actually act like an opposition and attack the Liberal party in government. There seems to have been countless give-mes in Federal politics where the ALP has not gone after the Liberal party, and instead remained silent, hoping that this is the equivalent of a dog whistle to the electorate that 'it will be more of the same' when they get in.
